The guy can only take one item with him to the other side of the river and he can come back n forth..etc
He has to bring all three items to the other side (goat,grass n lion)

Hint:
If you take the lion first, the goat will eat the grass so mission fail
If you take the grass first the lion will eat the goat mission fail.
The riddle is how can the person take them to the other side of the river

You take the goat first and drop it on the other side of the river. Come back to this side and take the lion but when you get to the other side you drop the lion and take the goat back with you. You drop the goat on this side and take the grass and drop it on the other side. You come back and take the goat to the other side.

Hell you need to rethink your answer to 3... If he said that the judge will sentence him to 6 yrs, then he tells the truth therefore gets 4 yrs.
In order to be set free he would need to give a statement which is neither true nor false.

IF the judge gives him 6 years, it means it is TRUE, which means he would get FOUR years, but that would make the statement FALSE
Which means the only way to not contradict himself would be setting the person free
